Franco-Dutch violist Sào Soulez Larivière, born in 1998 in Paris, originally started playing the violin at a very young age. In 2007, he was accepted in the class of professor Natasha Boyarsky at the Yehudi Menuhin School, where he switched to viola during his final years there.
Sào has taken part in masterclasses with Tabea Zimmermann, Jean Sulem, Nobuko Imai, Alexander Zemtsov, Gerard Caussé and others, in music festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Kronberg Academy Festival and Verbier Academy Festival.
Sào is a laureate of international competitions including the North London Music Festival (2016, 1st Prize), Stockport International Young Musicians Competition (2017, Finalist), the 24th International Johannes Brahms Competition, (2017, 3rd Prize), and the Cecil Aronowitz International Viola Competition (2017, 3rd Prize and Bach Prize).
A keen orchestral and chamber musician, Sào has performed in the U.K and continental Europe, including in festivals such as the Akoesticum Talent Programme Festival, Musethica Berlin, and Kronberg Chamber Music Connects the World. In addition to this, he enjoys arranging music for viola and violin, and often plays together with his sister, violinist Cosima Soulez Larivière.
Sào is currently pursuing his studies with professor Tabea Zimmermann at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik, Berlin.
