Charlotte Basalo Vázquez, violin & William Vyvyan Murray, viola
Come join wonderful violinist Charlotte Basalo Vázquez and celebrated Australian composer violist William Vyvyan Murray for a program of exquisite new and old music from the past 400 years, including the European premiere of William's Duo for Violin and Viola inspired by the many bee species that surround us, from the bumblebee to the honey bee and beyond.
The program opens with Kaaija Saariaho's stunning Duo Aure, written in hommage to Henri Dutillieux. Saariaho was one of William's favourite contemporary composers, and he mourned her passing last year. She was a great inspiration for his first solo suite which will follow her duo. Then we will work through Hungary (Bartok) and China (Yi) before coming home to Amsterdam to finish the first half with Oene Van Geel's new duo.
The second half features works by Francesca Caccini, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Erszebet Szonyi and finishes with the Premiere of William's Bee Duo's.
